Meet our new Coordinator of Perpetual Adoration, Cody Schaaf!

My name is Cody Schaaf. I was born and raised in O’Neill, Nebraska and left in 2001 to join the Army. I spent three years on active duty and have continued serving in the Army Reserves ever since. I have lived in Lincoln since 2003. I have two boys, Caleb and Easton, who are 14 and 12. I love them deeply, and watching them grow, including somehow getting as tall as me, is something I was not fully prepared for.

For about 15 years, I was away from the Catholic Church. On Ash Wednesday in 2024, I made the decision to come back. My cousin had encouraged me for years to give church another look so I began meeting with Joy at St. Michael’s and met with her for about a year. Leaving St. Michael’s was hard because it felt safe, but I kept driving past the Cathedral every Sunday and eventually knew that was where I was supposed to be.

After joining Cathedral, I had been praying for ways to get more involved and meet more people in the parish. I joined the Knights of Columbus and committed to a holy hour on Fridays at 1:00 a.m. When there was a need for someone to step in after Cassie announced she would be moving, one thing led to another and here I am. God is the director and I’m just his agent.
