Important Updates

Extended Day Program- Mrs. Laney is stepping away as the director of the Extended Day Program to focus more on her artistic endeavors. We will be looking for an additional person to help with coverages in the morning and afternoon.

Expect a bill this week for the first quarter extended day program. We are moving away from Bright Wheel as they will charge families more than we anticipated to pay. If you have questions about the extended day program, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Consistent with past practices, Catholic schools in the diocese provide basic census data to public school districts in which its students reside. This is to ensure completion of a state-mandated census by the public school district. At the direction of the diocesan education office, Cathedral provides the name, grade level, and date of birth of its students to Lincoln Public Schools completion of the census. No other data is provided. LPS provides assurances this student information is used only for completion of its census requirement and is maintained confidential.  Please let me know of any questions.

Virtue of the Week

Circumspection

Definition: Consideration of the consequences of one's actions; thinking ahead

Circumspection Looks Like:
Asking for advice from an older, trusted person
Praying before acting
Thinking before acting
Pausing to think

Circumspection Sounds Like:
May I ask you for advice about something?
Jesus, help me to do what you would do.
Let me think about that.
I should wait before I respond.
Let me think about what I should do.

Education Freedom Tax Credit

Starting January 1, 2027, taxpayers can make contributions to scholarship granting organizations like Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska and qualify for a federal income tax credit. Keep your tax dollars in Nebraska, and give hope to local kids... it's a no-brainer!

Last week, the U.S. Department of Treasury released proposed rules and regulations for the new Education Freedom Tax Credit program. While temporary, this guidance will apply to states and scholarship granting organizations as we implement the program in 2027.

In the guidance, the IRS clarified that married couple filing jointly can claim a tax credit for contributions up to $3400, as long as each individual has made a contribution. This is exciting news for Nebraska kids and families!
